On October 17th, 2019 the University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski” hosted the celebration of the 66th anniversary of the university in the Maxima Hall and the ritual of the involving the first-year students in the miners and geologists guild.

The event was inaugurated and led by Prof. Dr. Pavel Pavlov and was attended by representatives of major mining companies, politicians and public figures. The solemn academic speech was delivered by the Rector of the University of Mining and Geology Prof. Dr. Eng. Lyuben Totev, and on behalf of the Board of Trustees, a greeting was delivered by Prof. D.Sc. Nikolay Valkanov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Mining and Geology and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Minstroy Holding AD. The students with the excellent grades from the previous year received awards, followed by the traditional freshman reception ceremony.

For another consecutive year, students at the University of Mining and Geology have received generous business support. On behalf of Minstroy Holding AD, Prof. Nikolay Valkanov presented a check for 20 one-year scholarships, which are intended for the best students. Geotechmin Ltd., represented by Prof. D.Sc. Eng. Tsolo Vutov has added another 17 one-year scholarships to our most promising future colleagues.

After reading the dozens of greetings received by the University on the occasion of his holiday, Professor Pavlov closed the official panel with the words: Remember the covenant of St. Ivan Rilski: "Be united and have peace with each other".
