“Senovo” processing plant was established in 1962. It is located 1 kilometer west of the town of Senovo, Ruse district. It produces mainly kaolin for the ceramics industry and different brands of silica sand for glass, paper, foundry and construction industries. “Senovo” Plant is a part of the largest private gasification line in Bulgaria. Already at the time of the company privatization in 2000, the processing plant was gasified by means of a 30-kilometer pipeline. It is before long and the first positive environmental effect from the company activity becomes apparent. Energy efficiency projects are important not only to reduce costs and increase competitiveness of production, but mostly for the fast reduction of emissions discharges of harmful gases into the atmosphere. By 2010, Kaolin AD gasified all its production sites and administrative buildings in Senovo, Vetovo Kaolinovo, Ignatievo Devnya and Ustem. Gasification of the company leads to reduction of CO2 emissions by nearly 13 000 tons per year and modernization of production facilities of the company reduced the consumption of natural gas by 29%. Based in Senovo is one of the strongest units of Kaolin AD - Research and Development. It consists of a Laboratory Test Center (LTC) and R&D Department. These include chemical, physics, radiological and technological laboratories and semi-industrial test center (SITC). Today, Kaolin AD has one of the best laboratory and testing facilities on the Balkans.

“Vetovo” processing plant is the largest production site of Kaolin AD in Bulgaria. It is located two kilometers from the town of Vetovo (Ruse District), near the railway line Ruse - Varna. In “Vetovo” plant , there are departments for sand, kaolin, chamotte and ground microproducts, and the manufactured products are used in the ceramics, porcelain-faience, fire-clay, rubber, automotive, construction, glass and foundry industries. The company plant in Vetovo is supplied by two deposits of quartz-kaolinite raw material – “Vetovo” and “Esennitsite”. In 2007, Kaolin AD started extraction from “Esennitsite” deposit. The quarry is the largest of its kind on the Balkan Peninsula. Its researching lasted14 years, and the design and construction – tool 4 years. The deposit is designed to supply the company's processing plants in Vetovo and Senovo for 30 years. All deposits of the company after their depletion are being recultivated. Recultivation of damaged areas will be implemented under preliminary developed and coordinated recultivation project. Soils are national treasures, limited, irreplaceable and practically irrecoverable natural resource and their conservation is a priority and obligation of Kaolin AD.

“Kaolinovo” processing plant has been operating since 1966. It produces kaolin and silica sand used in the manufacture of sanitary and porcelain industry, crystal and household glass. High quality raw material is provided by the company deposits on the territory of Kaolinovo Municipality (Shumen District). Three open quarries for kaolin raw material are situated in the territory of Kaolinovo. The extraction of kaolin sands near Kaolinovo began nearly 100 years ago. Since 1924 until now, there have been made tens of thousands meters exploratory drilling and numerous mine workings. As a result from the experimental work, raw material reserves in six industrial deposits have been registered and ratified. The undeveloped reserves shall secure the production of kaolin and silica sands with different quality parameters for decades to come. This allows Kaolin AD to increase its mining and production capacities in a long-term plan.

“Devnya” processing plant is a relatively new plant launched into operation in May, 2006. The plant is situated on part of the former “Old Sodium Plant” in Southern industrial zone of the town of Devnya with area of 5000 m2. On the place of raw material warehouses of the Old Sodium Plant, now modern plant facilities for primary processing of quartz sand are installed. Products manufactured in the plant are used in the glass industry and for production of dry construction mixtures. The plant for quartz sands is supplied with material from the quarry Dabravino, which is located in the municipality of Avren, Varna Region, 1.3 km northeast of the village Dabravino. The extraction of silica sand in south-western Avren plateau started in an area with natural excavations, years before the geological researches and prospecting took place. In 1969, Mining and Processing Plant “D. Blagoev” prospected and recorded the first movement of balance reserves of this raw material.

In the southern parts of Varna plane woodlands, 2.5 km northeast of the village Pripek and 4.5 km northwest of the city Ignatievo, in the village of Kalimantsi, Suvorovo Municipality, at an altitude of 150-200 m., is situated the factory of Kaolin AD.

“Ignatievo” processing plant was launched into operation in December 1979, as a deposit and installation for kieselguhr (diatomaceous earth) used for powdering of mineral fertilizers. Due to the lack of market demand in 1985 major renovation of the equipment were performed and the plant began producing carbonate fillers. Primary ground limestone, but in the past also bentonite, zeolite and talc-magnetite. At present, “Ignatievo” processing plant produces ground and crushed limestone products. Ground products are used as fillers in the production of polyethylene, rubber and paint, and crushed products - in the glass industry. For the purposes of the fodder industry, it produces feeding material calcium carbonate, a product which is used for the production of nourishing combined fodder for all kinds of animals.

“Ustrem” processing plant was built in 1957. The enterprise was acquired by Kaolin AD in 2003. Since its establishment, Ustrem plant has been awarded with national prizes for high production results. The plant is the first in Bulgaria with lead-zinc ore extraction, and 4 flotation concentrations - lead, zinc, copper, pyrite and gravity-type concentrate. The latter had gold content from 500 to 1500 grams per ton. Flotation plant is unique for its technology as well with its employed professionals. Today the factory near the village of Ustrem, Municipality Topolovgrad, produces dolomite and three types of feldspar. Industrial minerals for the needs of Ustrem Factory are extracted from three deposits in the region of Southern Bulgaria.

In 2005, Kaolin AD started its activities in Dimitrovgrad. Several years later, the company excavates limestone from three quarries and has four processing installation sites. Today, Kaolin AD is a key supplier of raw materials with direct environmental effect. Kaolin AD develops its capacity for extraction and processing of limestone, consistent with the outlook for energy sector development and growth potential in the production of electricity from power plants using coal. The main output of limestone by Kaolin AD in Dimitrovgrad is used for purification of Sulphur dioxide in the flue gases at power plants in Southern Bulgaria.

Kaolin AD contributes to elimination of millions of tons of air emissions in the atmosphere from hazardous gas and thus implements its strategy for sustainable development - with products and solutions aimed at protecting the various components of the environment.

Kopovi AD Ub is main supplier of silica sands for the foundry sector and clays for the ceramics industry of Serbia and the countries from former Jugoslavia.

The company holds the rights for exploitation of 4 open pits for sands and clays, disposes with plant for processing and drying of silica sands.

Kopovi AD is privatized in 2003. Jogo Kaolin LLC is proprietor of the majority capital of the company, subsidiary of Kaolin AD.

With an own warehouse and a subsidary company in Italy, Kaolin EAD is known on the Italian market for its ceramic and paper kaolins, chamotte for sanitaryware, silica sand and calcined kaolin.
