At this year's national celebration of Miner’ Day, Kaolin EAD for the third consecutive year was recognized as exceeding in the fields of “Environmental Protection” and “Safe Work”. The awards were presented by the Bulgarian Chamber of Mining and Geology (BCMG). They were awarded only to companies in the mining industry, which in the past year have not allowed any violations of environmental legislation or accidents at work. The representatives of Kaolin- the Executive Director Radomir Cholakov, and the Head of the Ecology and Safety Division - Valentina Dobreva, received the BCMG awards during an official ceremony at the Balkan Hotel in Sofia at the hands of Deputy Energy Ministers Zhecho Stankov , for “Environmental Protection”, and Krasimir Parvanov for “Safe Work”.
Valentina Dobreva informed the media that she was extremely pleased with the opportunity to attend the ceremony, stressing that these awards has raised enormously the expectations towards Kaolin EAD. A mining company that receives these exact awards for the third year in a row becomes a benchmark for others and is not allowed to disappoint. Ms Dobreva thanked all her colleagues at Kaolin EAD and shared that the awards are a personal credit to each of them: for the care, they take to the environment and to their own safety and health. The Executive Director of the Mining Chamber, Ivan Andreev, congratulated Kaolin EAD on behalf of the entire industry and wished his colleagues new success.
The third consecutive double awards came in the period immediately after Kaolin EAD's accession to the German concern Quartzwerke, one of the leading producers of industrial minerals in Europe. German discipline and accuracy seem to have a beneficial effect on the activities of the Bulgarian company, which had previously been the subject of frequent, though undeserved, criticism. The fact is that in the past 2016, Kaolin EAD marked the most successful year in its history in terms of output and revenue. The German owner Quartzwerke keeps his word and reinvests all the profits in the modernization of Bulgarian enterprises, the introduction of new techniques and technologies, the improvement of working conditions and the protection of nature. The investments promised by Mr Robert Lindeman-Berk, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kaolin EAD, investments of BGN 100 million over a period of five years are beginning to get accomplished. Currently, intensive work is underway on projects for the construction of a new warehouse for the completed production in the Kaolinovo plant, worth BGN 5 million, a complete reconstruction of the washing industrial unit in the Vetovo plant for BGN 4 million and a number of other smaller projects. The project for a new plant in Dulovo is under development, with which Kaolin is about to fulfill a decade-long dream of the people from this region of the country.
What Kaolin EAD has yet to prove in a definite way is it social commitment, with the forthcoming opening of the Professional and Dual Center. With an investment of almost one million leva, a super-modern training center was built at the Vetovo plant, with training halls and workshops equipped by German design and modern technology. There, the students from Kaolin’ dual classes, in the cooperation with the „Vassil Levski“ secondary school in Vetovo, are to be trained. The center will offer а professional training and technical skills to the young people from all over the area and will give them a chance for a secure work and income in the future.
In a nutshell: beginning with the education of the youngest and ending with the environmental and safety awards, Kaolin EAD proves, not in words, but in action, that people are the most important and valuable asset to the Company.
