Kaolin EAD received the awards of the Bulgarian Chamber of Mining and Geology in the categories "Safety and Health" and "Caring for Nature". Diplomas and special plaques were handed to the company during the celebration in honor of the Miner's Day – 18th of August, in Sofia, respectively by the Minister of Labour and Social Policy- Mrs. Zornitza Rusinova and by the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Water- Mr. Boyko Malinov.
These awards are presented for zero traumatism and zero violations of environmental legislation during the previous year. This means that during the whole of 2015 in none of the eight factories of Kaolin EAD there was no occupational accident and no environmental pollution.
The celebration is held traditionally in the day dedicated to St. Ivan Rilski, who is also the patron saint of miners. The celebration in Hotel "Balkan" in Sofia was honored by the Ministers of Energy and labour and social care, MEPs, the presidents of the big trade unions and employers ' organizations, ambassadors, representatives of the scientific community and all companies working in the mining industry. Greetings to the participants of the event were sent by the President of the Republic, the President of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister and over 50 representatives of the State, local authorities and organizations, highlighting the importance of the industry, providing more than 5% of the country's gross domestic product.
Kaolin EAD, which since 2013 is owned by the German concern "Quarzwerke" is in the first five of the biggest mining companies in Bulgaria. The recognitions the company receives for a consecutive year are evidence of the serious intentions of the German investor and the large-scale investments undertaken in the company, including modernization of capacities, protection of labour, labor security,and many more.
