On the Air

During the last 6 years we have succeeded to drastically reduce the emissions of harmful substances in the air. This process commenced with the gasification of the main production sites in Vetovo and Senovo in year 2001. In 2005 and 2006 we transferred from using liquid fuels to propane-butane at our sites in Serbia.

In 2007 the production facilities in Devnya, Kaolinovo and Ignatievo transferred to natural gas.

In the month of March 2007 the procedure for registration of the production facilities in Senovo and Vetovo with regard to issuance of permits in order to participate in the greenhouse gas emissions quota trading scheme commenced.

On the other hand, we are successfully developing a series of products, the production of which generate directly and indirectly considerably lower emissions of carbon dioxide such as natural quartz flour, as well as products the usage of which reduces the emissions of carbon dioxide at our customers – feldspars having low melting point.

On the Waters

Since year 2006 we have been offering on the market a series of silica sands for natural (mechanical) purification of drinking and waste waters. With the geographic expansion of our activities, the possibilities for combined solutions in this sector increase.

On the Soils and the Re-cultivation of the Old Mines

The old mines, source piles and tailings ponds are to become green zones for sport and relaxation with widely practiced forestation. Thus, agricultural land uncultivated in the past, following the period of their exploitation by Kaolin, shall become much more beautiful and attractive places for rest, geotourism, etc.

“Zero” Waste Technologies

Kaolin is undergoing a process of introducing waste less technologies in its production fabrics. Along with authoritative European institutions, the Company has been developing a long-term research with regard to the possibilities for processing the production waste thrown away into the tailings ponds in order to reduce the waste thrown away and the areas where it is thrown respectively.

Alternative Energy Sources

We see serious opportunities in combining our industrial and administrative sites with production of energy from alternative sources. Gradually, the energy of the sun, wind, water, the combined production of heat and electricity shall become a compulsory element of our sustainable development.

And More

We are actively engaged in carrying out our own monitoring of the cleanness of the air, the waste and the underground waters under a scheme coordinated with all institutions involved in conserving the environment. We are working hard on the preparation for obtaining a certificate under IS0 14001 European Standard on environmental management.

And this is definitely not the last step on our way to a greener future of the Planet....
